b'REBORNCLASSIC CATAPULT RRP \x1c\x1b.\x1b\x1b The absurdly heavy draw bands are attached by one-piece plastic collett fixings (not wooden this time) and their far ends are whipped to the neat smaller style leather pouch. The tops have little buttony caps that seem to serve no purpose. They arrive twisted up in a knot in the bag in the box and they stretch about 200%. I recall the old studoing more. This elastic stops. A cynic might suggest that the maker knows you will change the bands, thus absolving manufacturer of any responsibility for potential wrongdoing. The frame is a perfect copy of the original. It is a recreated slice of history and I reckon everyone will want one. These will be very collectible, despite the faults.MILBRO DELUXE RRP \x1c\x1b.\x1b\x1bMeet the new flatband-to-steel-bar fixing device. First, the bent steel bar is stamped so it has lugs to grip upon. Then that upright fixing uses those lugs as an anchor to prevent twisting and has a rod within the moulding that the band is wrapped around to create the friction needed to hold it firmly. It is TTF, so the four short fibre optic dots on each side are pretty much pointless, since those are used on OTT designs. It is like o ering serious windage options, when you need elevation instead. Puzzling.FOLDING SLING WITH LASER RRP \x1c\x19\x1b.\x1b\x1b Built like me, kinda lumpy and fat but as well as that big old pistol grip, it has a tiny switch that fires up a red laser! It is OTT, so the fibre optic sights actually work. The handle has a deeply cool ammo stash that releases a ball at a time and holds thirty 9.5mm. No mention of that, anywhere. Its is 20, it has a laser and pukka sights. It dispenses ammo and takes a flat band. It is going to sell like crazy. Like all these, it is ambidextrous for grip.MILBRO FOLDING SLING RRP \x1c\x19\x18.\x1b\x1bE ectively the same slingshot as the Deluxe but with an unfolding Milbro-branded wrist brace, which does help make things more steady. This would be useful if you had a sight, as against these windage marker things in TTF usage. It is a big point to have missed. A more informed bend of the same amount of bar would make this OTT and thus deadly accurate with the same fixings. Opportunity missed.DELUXE ADJUSTABLE SLINGSHOT RRP \x1c\x19\x17.\x1b\x1b A take on a common design where two bent metal bars are combined via a serious handle. The idea is that you can adjust the rear brace for the best place and the front forks for degree of extension. I used it fully stretched both ways and suggested an aftermarket part that made the forks reach WAY forwards and call it the Starship Accessory Fork. TTF with the same bar-tip piece as the Deluxe and the folding version of it, so another 90 degrees of misapplication. Again, the same bar, just bent di erently on the big machines, would cure this.CONCLUSION:The Classic needs to be in your collection, end of story. The rest remind me of early car audio brand ProPlus. It was cheap, and it did what it said on the box. So it got a load of people into the passion, safely. And these going into shops up and down the nation will do just that. Especially that laser equipped OTT model. The tragedy of an OTT sight on a TTF design is hard to fathom, though. A massive hike in smarts for these would simply be to bend the same bar di erently such that it ended up as OTT.Milbros new fl at bands are pretty rugged although I like a bigger pouch. Spare Milbro slingshot bands will cost you 6.99 RRP but any bandset maker on Facebook will be cheaper.029028-029_SSW004 Milbro.indd 29 02/08/2020 14:20'
