This year, we have more local catapult shoots going on than ever before, but they can be a bit of clique, with attendance depending upon who you know. These though, are the upcoming slingshot events that are tell-everyone shoots. Always a fun weekend with the camping and outdoors cooking being a large part of the fun.
The ENGLAND SLINGSHOT FEDERATION (join here) are holding a Summer Shoot. To be found at Milton End Farm, Arlingham, Gloucestershire GL2 7JH, not far from Junction 13 of the M5. It will be on the 10th and 11th of August, ’24. With arrival and camping overnighting from 2pm on the Friday 9th.
Events planned include
SIMULATED HUNTING COURSE: Tom’s Targets HARDOX Gong plates at varying sizes and distances.
PFS: Pickle Fork Shooters, for the less than 12mm gap.
10M CLASSIC: The one the best shooters want to win so bad, they can taste it. TOP Challenge.
NATURAL FORK: This means a natural fork of wood, with limited work, bark on.
LAST MAN STANDING: Further and Further back, until you miss. Last one left to hit it, wins.
Fees are £30 for adults and £20 for 11 to 15yr olds.
The UKSA – United Kingdom Slingshot Association, MAY Shoot
Yes, it’s just like boxing, and rugby and other sports where they have more than one association. We have the UKSA.. and ESF. Which, to me seems a simple North-South divide as the ESF events tend to be down south and these are Harrogate way, in stunning scenery.
The UKSA, hosted by Daran Grinbergs with help from his chums of the regular Sunday “Shoot At The Bridge” in Sheffield, are hosting an event on 17th, 18th and 19th of May. Same deal as others, in that you arrive the Friday before and it runs over the weekend. Here’s their details:
THE GREAT YORKSHIRE CAMP AND COMP
No payments needed in advance, please pay at the gate. Summerbridge, next to Brimham Rocks at HG3 4DN. If you are going to be attending this event could you say, so we know roughly the number of people who will be coming. Cost is £35 for the weekend for adults, and 12yrs to 16yrs are £20, with 11yrs and under free. 16 and unders must be accompanied by a adult. Just camping, £20
There will be toilets on site but no plumbed water. Fires are allowed, as long as off the floor. No shooting except in the arranged shooting areas . Thank you, from the UKSA.
