To print Slingshot World I have become a media mogul! Well, I have to be three departments, usually separated in the print bizz. ONE is the ad salesman, who brags about how great his publication will be and its reach. TWO is the ‘righteous journalist’ whose opinion he hopes you will respect and works towards continual learning of his subject. THREE is the department who sell magazines, another whole trade, associated with FMCG. And I made some early decisions about how this was going to work and now it is time to back those decisions up. After all, it’s just been my birthday, and Christmas is coming up and all….
ISSUE ONE OF SLINGSHOT WORLD MAGAZINE IS NOW FREE TO LOOK AT ONLINE
IT IS CRAMMED WITH LINKS TO VIDEOS ABOUT THE CONTENT AND TO THE SELLING PAGES FOR ALL ADVERTISERS
Right here. Hover your cursor about any link you see.. and there are some hidden gems: http://www.slingshotworld.co.uk/slingshot-world-digital-issue-1/
Here is why. It is all about the Venn diagrams or ‘set theory’. I made the print magazine as pretty as I could. Zachary Fowler ABSOLUTELY got it. His introduction to the click baity video about slingshot safety, moved me to my core! (See below, I love this guy!)
Folks who will appreciate the magazine, will do so, as a ‘thing’, an actual object you can pick up and leave by the loo for later. They enjoy the physical shiny publication itself and they will keep it in with their catapult collection. Those who are able, will buy it online and enter their e-mail address. Some farther-flung folks have been happy to buy the digital version access at half print price – no postage of course, also helps. Others will find it at shoots and shops and shows, to just purchase.
But some people will just not bother if they cannot simply have a little look, without putting their retina print on record, plus blood group, criminal record of parking and ring finger size. Of course, for mail order of print, we need your address and it helps if we can tell you when the next issue comes out. But the fact is, we are niche. And I need to get the word out. WHO finds a magazine on issue one, fer gosh sakes, after all? Did you ever do that? WELL DONE, you just did!
Thus my brag as the “I am going to do this.. I am SO going to do that.. ” ad salesman, so vital to defray costs of print magazinery, was all about this bit. Because I am betting that the ‘object appeal’ of the magazine will remain. You can cut it up and frame it, it is that pretty. Also, the digital reach will now go completely spacky and I am of course hoping that folks will find the links, to video and sales. I am even arrogant enough to not worry about advertisers seeing where it came from, for ALL their traffic is about to spike like a brute!
So do go and have a look. You cannot download it, but access is now free. The PDF flipbook system is sumptuous and we have made a good balance of detailed beauty and speed of page loading.
Meanwhile, the print magazine of issue ONE is still very much in stock (I will print more if need be) and I am hoping that you may use the online one as a way to preview the print edition before buying it.
Magazines will be on sale at the ESF shoot in April and ISSUE two is an advanced stages of production, (it took waay longer than realised..I had to be Zen about it)
Here is Zachary Fowler….
