Simpleshot’s new Scout X is an evolution of 2012’s now legendary Scout XT. In the old days we used to use the biblical reference to be ‘breathed upon’ when an engineer does something awesome to an existing design, of say a car. (Read about the Lotus Carlton) With the talents of Mark Seljan, 3D design luminary, at the heart of this metamorphosis, the Scout XT looks very familiar but has a total game-changing set of features going on.
The biggest klaxon horn for me is the fibre optic sight system that is part of the new Scout X high precision moulded band clamp. The OTT/TTF design of the new Scout X clip means that there is a fibre optic for TTF shooters to sight on where a central aiming dimp has only ever been found before on previous slingshots. And in OTT use, there is a fibre optic at the top corner that we all use a reference point. In a slice of genius, these are as precise as any Chinese design but are WAY more rugged.
A lot like the Saunders Pipper sight, this uses a good LONG piece of fibre optic. More light can enter the fibre’s sides and bounce around until it shows up at either end, WAY brighter than you would expect. This one piece is warm-moulded into place and is available as a spare in case you do manage to damage it. It has all the cunning of the Saunders Pipper sight, with the precision made much snugger. Brilliant, literally.
The ergonomics of the frame itself have been squidged, to make it more comfy in a wider choice of grips whilst retaining the classic-and-proven fork tip distance and width dimensions. The clips and palm swell scales come in black as standard kit and the frame comes in black, green or slate. Scales and clips are also available in a slew of different colours so you can colour code a collection!
Or, you can leave the scales off and paracord-wrap your one….
