ENGLAND SLINGSHOT FEDERATION IS LAUNCHED! UKCA & BCA UNITED!

It has happened, we have become GLOBAL READY! When we went to the World Slingshot Cup in Italy recently, it was clear that of all the other nations of the twenty-two that took part, not one had the fragmented situation that we had, with two different organisations for the one territory. Now, after some stuff going on behind the scenes, in which there were some deep changes made in approach, Slingshot World is properly delighted to be the first with the news that the new organisation has a name and has a committee.

The ENGLAND SLINGSHOT FEDERATION.

England because it complements the Irish, Scots and Welsh nationals in having their own clubs and thus take part in a unified British Isles-wide system of tournaments/contests/shoots. Also, while the ESF are keen for us all to shoot the same formats, this doesn’t encroach on their sovereignty.

Slingshot, as like the site and magazine, WE may mostly say ‘catapult’, but Slingshot is a more globally-used term from India to Australia.

And FEDERATION, as after all, two organisations are like the United States, kinda Federal in the admin and united – it is now all ONE!

The committee are: Asa Wilson, Keith Dighton, Mark “Jumbo” Willis, Ian Jones, Chris Graffin, Ben Barker, Joefe Botton, Narny Botton, Steve Hickmott, Mark Clark, and John Jeffries.

The plan at the present time is to hold four shoots a year, two indoors and two outdoors. There will be many more admins on the Facebook presence and they will also be doubling up as stewards at the shoots.

A really positive move and one that Slingshot World was honoured to be the news feed to release the big news!

I can also assure you that going forward, this is the place to read stuff that matters in the world of slingshots,  first!
