Imagine I was writing a book, seeking to create a memorable character. The skill with that stuff is make them believable, with enough individuality to make the plot happen but not too much quirkiness, nor over-layering the ‘amazing’ too deep, or folks simply will not believe in your creations.
I have a huge liking for real people, whom if someone were to have ‘written’ or invented their existence, many people would say, “Really mate? That character is a bit hard to believe in!” All four of the Slingshot world’s aristocracy that have so far featured in Slingshot World Magazine’s ACCESS ALL AREAS pages have been such folks.
The simple term is “larger than life”.
We had Asa Wilson and “Gamekeeper” John Webb in issue ONE (Viewable for free HERE: http://www.slingshotworld.co.uk/slingshot-world-digital-issue-1/) The first, an actual ‘tortured artist’ if the truth be known, with a wellspring of creativity in slingshot building that stems from being driven by demons within. And I think there’s more than one….
The second, could be accused of being a messianic force in the English speaking catapult world, with his absurd breadth of skills, heritage and incredible, trophy-thief marksmanship.
In issue TWO, it was Darrin Glenn Cook who is like a living slingshot manga character, who can throw anything with a point and it will land with a THUNK in a tree. And then Jumbo, who is absurdly clever and good at shooting…
But Mr. Frank Wass is the only actual gamekeeper who loves catapults.. and his story is just touched upon, in this video.
