READ Issue #5 now, for free. YES! The page with the FREE to view digital flip-book versions of Slingshot World magazine has just had the fifth issue added to it.
The menu bar at the top of the page on desktop or menu button top left on mobile has a FREE DIGITAL MAGAZINES tab. Click that and the first five issues of Slingshot World are there for you to see fee-free.
I admit that in the early days with a different system, we ‘sold’ digital subscriptions, which is how the national news papers work in some cases, as well as the likes of Fast Car. But for us, digital is way more sensibly dealt with now.
For while the magazines are a collectible, on superior paper, with thick covers and sumptuously well printed from top quality digital files of massive proportions…. it is still digital that means sanity for the advertisers.
Like first class passengers paying for everyone else’s seats in a jumbo jet (as explained by that Branson fellow….no not the pickle…) the big page advertisers are what covers the print and design bills. But they require a return on their investment. And thus the sheer volume of people who see their advert and also read about their stuff in the magazine is what they care about.
I wish I could say I was a media mogul, selling lots and lots of magazines and coining it, but the thing sells enough to cover the running costs, but nothing for my own bills. That means that the sales numbers are HUGELY enhanced by the free digital versions.
So far, as each new magazine comes out, the one before it has been made available digitally. I think there are people that enjoy physical print and those that are more tech and I don’t think that releasing the digital version of issue Six early, will hurt its sales.. but it’s a decision yet to make.
